Do you know the importance of our body regions. We seperate our bodies abdominopelvic region into nine different areas. In our body we contain many different organs. Splitting our body into regions can help our healthcare providers understand many problems that occur in the body. The nine parts are described as our left, right, and center areas. If you ever have pain in the abdomin, during examination the regions help to classify problems or diseases that have occured.

Right Hypochondriac: This is what we can consider region (1). This area is located below the ribs. Being easily broken down as hypo- below and chondr/o- cartilage. What the ribs are made out of.

Organs: Right lobe of liver and part of gallbladder

Left Hypochondriac: This is region (2). As before it is located right under the ribs.

Organ: Stomach

Epigastric: Region (3) is the area above the stomach. It holds the stomach in this area. This can help healthcare workers to know of indigestion or other stomach problems, like the flu.

Organs: Left lobe of liver and stomach

Right Lumbar: This can start our learning of our middle region or our (4) area. This is the part on the left side near the waist. Lumbar meaning lower back.

Organ: Ascending colon

Left Lumbar: This is region (5). This area is the opposite side of the middle region of the waist.

Organ: Descending colon

Umbilical: This region speaks for itself. Being region (6) it is located on the inner part of the waist around the belly button.

Organs:Transverse colon, pancreas, and small intestines.

Right Inguinal: This is the groin region and area (7). This region is one of the most watched regions via the organ located in it. Also known as riight iliac region.

Organs: Cecum and vermiform appendix

Left Inguinal: This region is our second to last at (8). Also known as left iliac region.

Organ: Begining of Sigmoid colon

Hypogastric: The final region is (9). This is the region that is located right under the umbilical region.

Organs: End of sigmoid colon and rectum/anus area.
