These are just some historical events and why they are useful, I would like to give recommendations to the following events in chronilogical order.
Event 1- 3300 BC - Early doctors started using herbal remedies to make medicine.
Why- This is when the building blocks of medicine started forming.
Event 2- 460 BC- Birth of Hippocrates, the Greek father of medicine.
Why- Hippocrates begins the scientific study of medicine and prescribes a form of aspirin.
Event 3- 300 BC -Diocles wrote the first known anatomy book.
Why- This helped others to understand more about the anatomy of humans.
Event 4- 910- Persian physician Rhazes identifies smallpox.
Why- This was an early found disease that killed many people over a short time.
Event 5-1249- Roger Bacon invented spectacles.
Why- It made sight easier for those with bad eyes.
Event 6- 1489- Leonardo da Vinci dissects corpses.
Why- This gave the better understanding of what was inside the body.
Event 7-1559- Realdo Colombo described the circulation of blood through the lungs.
Why- It gave people a better indepth description of how blood circulates through the lungs.
Event 8- 1590- Zacharius Jannssen invents the microscope.
Why- This gave us the power to see bacteria and foreign objects to small for the naked eye.
Event 9- 1628- William Harvey publishes An Anatomical Study of the Motion of the Heart and of the Blood in Animals
Why- This formed the basis for future research on blood vessels, arteries and the heart.
Event 10- 1670- Anton van Leeuwenhoek discovers blood cells.
Why- This gave us the knowledge of the different types of blood cells and showed later on what they do within the body.
Event 11- 1747- James Lind publishes his Treatise of the Scurvy stating that citrus fruits prevent scurvy.
Why- A lot of people got scurvy in this time and his treatment of citrus helped to prevent scurvy from being an issue in the future.
Event 12- 1763- Claudius Aymand performs the first successful appendectomy.
Why- This helped to eliminate the average amount of deaths due to the appendix.
Event 13- 1816- Rene Laennec invents the stethoscope.
Why- With no way to see inside the body. This helped us to hear what is going on inside the body.
Event 14- 1857- Louis Pasteur identifies germs as cause of disease.
Why- This gave us a better understanding on what is causing diseases and helped to determine how to eliminate or contain them in the future.
Event 15- 1895- Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovers X rays.
Why- This is another tool invented that helped us see what we can not from the outside of the body.
Event 16- 1901- Karl Landsteiner introduces the system to classify blood into A, B, AB, and O groups.
This helped to determine people's blood type, and to understand the proteins in blood. Paving the way for blood transfusion and blood banks.
Event 17- 1922- Insulin first used to treat diabetes.
Why- This gave people with diabetes the chance to live longer and control the insulin in their body.
Event 18- 1953- James Watson and Francis Crick work on the structure of the DNA molecule.
Why- This helped us to understand the basic shape of DNA and how the pieces fit in a molecular structure.
Event 19- 1983- HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, is identified.
Why- This gave us the basis for helping to prevent and defend one of the world’s more common diseases.
Event 20- 2000- First draft of human genome is announced.
Why- Human genomes include both protein-coding DNA genes and noncoding DNA.
