Being founded in1980 by a group of family caregivers the Alzheimer’s Association's vision is to eliminate the disease Alzheimer’s through research. They want to provide advanced care to people affected by this disease and support those individuals by reducing the risk and promoting proper brain health.

When learning about the Alzheimer’s Basics, I learned about the signs and symptoms, what dementia is and even the myths. Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. Dementia is the decline of mental awareness and can be hard to cope with. There are many type categories that are classified in the cases of dementia. Having 100 billion nerve cells in the brain there are many different functions. Thinking, learning, and common memory functions are those most thought of when it comes to dementia. Sensory nerves help to pass around information needed to know, but dementia can lessen those thoughts and senses. Age, family history, and mutated genetics can be common risk factors in onset dementia. There are certain types of doctors or specialists who can help you to find out if you have this memory disease. Neurologists, psychiatrists, and psychologists are just a couple that can help you to figure it out. There are also many tests and exams you can take to figure out the path of dementia. Mental status and memory checks, physical exams and diagnostic tests, and neurological exams can help. There are many things that can help you with dementia, but it is not quite curable. Many signs and symptoms such as memory loss and challenges in problem solving can affect life with dementia. Mood, personality, and judgement change and are harder to function with when you have dementia. This site overall was very useful and helped me to understand the risk factors of dementia.
